This type of buckeye comes from California and is typically used as an ornamental tree to prevent erosion. The color can range from dark gray to pale, yellowish white. An odd bit of trivia about this tree is that the nuts contain a neurotoxin historically used by native Americans to stun their prey when hunting. Rest assured, the wood is completely harmless, and you will have no ill effects using it.
